The Turf Club certainly got lucky with the weather. Saturday night was beautiful - typical Bay Area weather. Sunday saw our first real rain of the season - here's what the patio looked like then!
Multiloquence characterized by consummate interfusion of circumlocution or periphrasis, inscrutability, and other familiar manifestations of abstruse expatiation commonly utilized for promulgations implementing Procrustean determinations by governmental bodies.

Pictures of Turf Club's 25th anniversary
As I mentioned in my prior post, yesterday was the Turf Club's 25th anniversary, and a blast was had by all. I snapped some pictures, but not nearly enough to do justice to the event. Nonetheless, here's a sampling.
Great hors d'œuvre and amuse bouche got us going, prepared and served by Steve D'Assis. Then we were served a dinner of juicy, tender prime rib, new potatoes slathered in butter, and a delicious marinated bean side (a nod to my need for veg!). I wasn't able to manage dessert, but was reliably informed that the selection was, again, delicious. And, of course, champagne. All the staff were parading around in tuxes (or some variant thereof), all looking wonderful. A big thank you goes out, in kinda-sorta alphabetical order, to Larry, Doug, Danny, Dave, Eric, Frank, Gary, Hazel, Jay, Jennifer, Michael, Randy, Shawn, both Steves, and others I'm just not remembering right now (apologies)!
Some people pics first, then some more general pics.
And some more general views of the party:

Fun bathroom pictures
All the political nonsense going on right now is getting me down. So, back to bathroom humor... (Not to worry, most of it is clean!)
I'm sure there'll be more of these appearing soon, so stay tuned!

Gotta love the detail, down to the direction of the drips - as well as that of the baseball caps! |

Talk about ropey! |

That hair! Is she in a wind tunnel? (Btw, is that really how women pee? Damn.) |

Gotta go? See below... |

Gotta go! Gotta go! Gotta go right now. |

This is disturbing... |

...but not as disturbing as this! (And there are those baseball caps again.) |

Umm ... OK. |

But it is a non sequitur! |

New pictures here!
Alert! I've (finally) posted some more pictures on my Picture Me page. This time, I'm focusing on advertising, specifically "billboards" - you'll understand the quotation marks when you see 'em. While I only show eight examples, there's a link over there to a website that has hundreds more.
Only one of the examples is from the U.S. - there's a definite paucity of creativity in this country. C'mon, you (supposedly) creative advertising people: get with it!

An experiment
I've added a new gadget on the left - a slideshow of pictures in the Panoramio archives. The selection is done based on how a picture was tagged, and it seems that people have some strange ideas of how to tag pics - but I guess that just adds to the fun! Your task: guess the tag! I will be changing the tag on a (fairly) regular basis.
(I'll move the gadget down a bit in a few days - I just want to keep it in an obvious spot at first.)

Bonus add-a-caption
Since I kinda like the idea of soliciting captions, I thought I'd provide a bonus (!) one today. You know the drill - create a caption, leave a comment! (Remember: really rude responses get extra credit!)
Not to influence you, but I'm thinking ... boy scouts ... pitching a tent ...

Pictures I've found in odd (really odd!) places.
I'm always bemoaning the literacy problems of the general population;
here we have examples from a mayor, two roadsign painters and a flock o' teabaggers!

Perhaps they done shoulda used this:
Why (or where) on earth would this ever be necessary?
Two of the Google doodles celebrating the World Cup. These are from Doodle4Google, a contest for kids; the one on the right is the South African entry (find more at the official Google doodles archive).

Pictures are worth 1,000 words
Not that I've ever believed that! I thought you might enjoy these.
Unfortunate shadow: Believe it or not, this picture was part of a magazine ad. Notice the shadow on her breast above the word 'see.' Was it deliberate? Ya think? (Note the caption.) The ad was subsequently pulled, and (it seems) they have tried to suppress as many copies as possible that are circulating on the web.
Close the door, damnit! This car is advertising two companies: Larsen's Biscuits and the Peniston Oil Co. (Yeah, right.) Still, it makes for a fun pic!
Carry on, nurse... When you gotta go, you gotta go!
So yeah, my mind's in the gutter - what else is new?

Well-endowed veggies. Some carrot, huh? Talk about a snail trail! This one's a keeper.

Web pictures are fun!
Expect more of this sort of thing.
